Hello Dolly Online Rules

Welcome to Hello Dolly Online, we hope you become an active, enthusiastic participant, and that you make every effort to keep this an enjoyable and educational environment for every visitor.

As a participant, please keep in mind the following:

Unless stated otherwise the below rules apply to all activity on the board. Throughout these rules the term “the site” is used to refer jointly to Hello Dolly Magazine and Hello Dolly Online.

Who can post here?

Anyone is welcome to post on the site provided they believe their topic or comments are relevant and will be of interest to others.

Users responsibilities

You are responsible for what you post, and what you read. All posts made are the opinions and views of the author and not necessarily those of the site or the site’s owners. The site cannot be responsible for the truthfulness or validity of any information posted, nor can it vouch for the authenticity or the identity of any of the posters, any account that is clearly being used to impersonate someone will be deleted. The site cannot and will not be held liable for any information or message posted and disclaims all liability resulting from any action or inaction taken as a result of reading or posting a message anywhere on this site.

No advertising

Advertisements for products or services are prohibited. Exceptions: Links are acceptable when they are relevant and on-topic.

Stay on-topic

Post in the appropriate forum and remain on-topic. Start a new topic if you wish to introduce a new subject. Follow-ups should usually be posted to the original topic. Ignore posting errors and duplicate posts. A moderator will usually fix them. The site is for the discussion and promotion of the Art of Reborning. Virus warnings, urban legends or world events are all off topic unless the Art of Reborning is somehow related to the topic. As a practical matter, more leeway is allowed within a topic for 'drift' than in obviously off-topic new topics.

Be original

The site is for discussion and your contributions should be specific to this forum. Do not cut-and-paste lengthy messages from other websites or lists. If you want to use a lengthy article elsewhere as the basis of discussion that is fine - simply link to it - quoting a paragraph or two for context is fine.

Be civil

Any post that is considered to be a troll (seeking to make trouble) or a flame (abusing someone) will be removed. Posts containing accurate constructive criticism are permitted provided they cite relevant evidence for their claims and do not constitute a direct attack on an individual. Inflammatory language or expletives are not permitted.

No Shouting

Do not post in capitals. Please be careful with your CapsLock key and do not use excessive punctuation or smilies.

Only link to images you control

It is generally a poor idea to link to remote images without permission from the remote site owner. If the owner replaces the image without your knowledge, your post could inadvertantly become very inappropriate. It is perfectly OK to link to images hosted on your own site, or on sites where you pay the cost of bandwidth. If you don't have your own site there are websites available that provide free image hosting services.

Profile Signatures

In the interest of controlling bandwidth and enhancing readability, extravagant or distracting signatures are strongly discouraged. The forum provides a robust profile capability for contact information and personalization. If you use a signature please keep it short. If you do place a link to your site in your signature then we would appreciate a link from your site to www.hellodollymagazine.co.uk

Impersonation

Impersonation of others can be a criminally fraudulent act. Individuals who choose to do this will be banned, depending on the nature and severity of the incident the site reserves the right to report such activity to the users Internet Service Provider.

Roll of the Moderators

The goal of the site is to promote an open frank exchange of ideas. All persons should feel free to post and to express their opinions, provided they do so constructively and truthfully. The goal of the moderators is to uphold this spirit of freedom, openness and genuiness, they will intervene by removing or modifying any post or thread that they believe detracts from this goal. As a guideline the following are definitely likely to attract the moderators attention:

  1. Posts containing offensive racial, gender, sexual preference, religious, political, or nationality-bashing language.
  2. Any post containing language that is offensive in a public, family context.
  3. Links to inappropriate content.
  4. Personal attacks on other posters, either on this forum or other forums. Comment on ideas, not people.
  5. Flame bait. In other words: inflammatory messages posted with an intent to provoke emotional responses. This is not to be confused with a sincerely held belief or opinion that differs from the norm and is expressed in a meaningful and congenial way.
  6. Repeated posting of the same or similar messages, and "bumping" a topic more than once.
  7. Cross-posts (the same post on multiple threads) or link dumps (posts containing a list of links with no context).

Your Agreement

By posting to the site, you agree to be bound by the above rules. Your posts and participation should at all times reflect positively on the Art of Reborn Doll making.
